My Observations Of Laundry Detergent

Warm Wednesday Greetings to you!

So today I thought I would share my observations about laundry detergent and see if anyone else might have noticed this as well.

Just like everything else lately it has really been ticking me off that not only have they raised the price of detergent but they have made the bottles smaller and have made the claims that less is more basically. Well I do not agree with they new theory. I purchased some of the new stuff and I found that I had to use more to even get a little suds in the water.

So when it came time to buy again even though it has been years since I used powdered detergent I noticed that you got more loads for a little better price. So I thought well I think I will revisit the old school stuff see if I was willing to deal with the ole box again.

Well I found I will be sticking with my old friend the powder. It suds up so nice and smelled much more fragrant than I even remembered it being. So even though I will missed the convenience of the liquid the powder out preformed it hands down.

I know, I don't get the theory that "less is more" on these detergents. If it's in a smaller bottle seems like you wouldn't get as much. Sometimes I was getting the powder, maybe I'll try it again too. Especially I remember buying a big box for a dollar at the Dollar Store, good deal.

I believe you are probably right, I think the powered stuff does smell nicer but some people have issues with it not all dissolving completely and then it causing skin irritations. Now that I'm home all the time and have more time to spend on the laundry though, I think I may give it a try once again.
I haven't had any problems with needing to use more of the 2x detergents they are selling so much of now but maybe that's because we have a water softener since the water here in South Texas is lime rock hard.

Sue,
Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting. It sure has gone further for me. I also like that I can buy it cheaper at the dollar store and Dollar General. Never hurts to try again. I even thought about buying the liquid in a cheaper brand and then buying better in powder and halfing it out.

mamaflo,

I have heard that it has been a issue for some with the powder not dissolving well. What I usually do is start my water before the clothes are put in, then I add my detergent and I use a hanger to stir it around and dissolve then I put the clothes in and that seems to work well.
Maybe that is a issue I am having is my water. I could really use a softener as well. Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks so much to you both for your comments.

Hi Tammy,
Yes, I agree with you. Powder detergents are better and cheaper than concentrated bottled ones. Thanks for the post. God bless.
